KARACHI: Pakistan beat Indonesia 3-2 in the play-offs of seventh to tenth position in the ongoing Asian Volleyball Championship on Friday in Urmia, Iran.
The Men in Green made an excellent comeback from 2-1 down to a 3-2 win.
Pakistan registered their win with scores of 19-25, 25-22, 23-25, 25-13 and 25-12.
Despite losing the first set 19-25, the Green Shirts did not give up and continued to play their best game and won the second set 25-25 after a close encounter.
The Indonesians made a comeback in the third set and pushed Pakistan back once again as they came out victorious 25-23.
But, Pakistanis did what they are known for and made a comeback in the last two sets and won 25-13 and 25-12 with big margins.
Pakistan will now play against Bahrain for the seventh position on Saturday.
Earlier, Pakistan lost 3-0 against Iran in a one-sided match and were out of the race for a medal.
Iran won with scores of 25-18, 25-15 and 25-13.
Had Pakistan won against Iran, they would have qualified for the semi-finals directly.
In Pakistan's second group game on Monday (August 21), they lost against Korea 3-1.
Korea won the match with scores of 26-28, 25-20, 32-30, and 25-22.
The game was a close one except for the second set, which Korea won by five points, the remaining sets were won with a close margin.
Meanwhile, on Sunday (August 19), Pakistan beat Bangladesh 3-0 in their opening game and went off to a flying start.
